Development of Scientific Literacy-Based Assessments in Energy and Change of Energy in Daily Life Topic

Abstract:
According to the results of PISA and TIMSS, the position of Indonesian students is at the lower level, while many students in other countries are at the top level. The cause is that there is an imbalance between science study carried out in schools and the demands of the PISA test questions. The purpose of the research is to describe the development of scientific literacy-based assessment of energy topic, produce a proper assessment, and determine the student’s scientific literacy profile. The type of research used is R&D with a 4D model. The types of data used are quantitative and qualitative. Material and media validation was 91.3% and 87.5% respectively, which were classified as very valid. The teacher's practicality test was found to be 93.8%, which was classified as very practical. As many as 27 valid and reliable questions were developed. The practicality test of students was found to be 80.0%, which was quite practical. The scientific literacy profile of competence to explain phenomena scientifically, evaluate and design scientific enquiry, and interpret data and evidence scientifically were 51.5%, 46.7%, and 48.9%, which are classified as low.
