Abstract:

Rural development at European level experienced transformations in the last decades, changing perspectives of governance from more centralized approaches to locally led initiatives. In this context, the role of local stakeholders is increasingly high in determining the right path, while considering both the challenges and the potential factors of success. Results of an empiric research over human capital aspects are presented herewith in terms of demographic challenges and sets of factors that may contribute to rural revitalization. A prospective monitoring/evaluation instrument is considered for indicators specific to the human resource dimension of rural development.
