Abstract:

Literacy is a hot issue that has been widely discussed recently by education practitioners. One type of literacy being referred to is scientific literacy competence. Scientific literacy is the ability to apply scientific knowledge, identify questions, and draw conclusions based on evidence about nature and the changes in nature caused by human activities. The aim of this study is to determine students' opinions on how often teachers apply scientific literacy competence in learning activities and assessments in science subjects. This research is classified as a descriptive qualitative study, using a questionnaire distributed to students. After the questionnaire results were collected, interviews were conducted with selected students from the sample to deepen the findings and responses. The research results show that students believe teachers have applied scientific literacy competence in both learning activities and assessments in science subjects, but it is only done occasionally and on certain materials. This is due to varying conditions in schools during learning. The teaching conducted by teachers at school adjusts to the prevailing conditions.
