Abstract:

The growth of remote work, particularly in the IT industry, has had both positive and negative effects. This research is an investigation of how distant work influences employee engagement and psychological well-being among IT personnel in Southern India. Applying the Say, Stay, Strive model of Aon Hewitt, the investigation looks at conditions such as communications, work-life balance, empowerment, rewards, and career advancement. The investigation also takes psychological well-being aspects such as self-acceptance, personal growth, relationships, purpose in life, and environmental mastery into consideration. A survey of IT workers (N=218) underscores that autonomy and empowerment are central to engagement, whereas personal growth and meaning in life do much to influence well-being. The findings reveal that even though remote working allows flexibility, it also generates problems such as social isolation and communication breakdowns. Organisations have to institute formal engagement practices, career growth initiatives, and mental health assistance to ensure employee satisfaction and productivity in a remote setting.
